I don't go into these places to provoke anything.  Most of the time, nothing happens.

But occasionally—when you stay long enough, and quiet enough—something strange makes its way into the recodings.

I don't treat these moments as evidence.   I treat them as encounters.

I know how audio artifacts happen.  I know how microphones behave in old buildings.

And still, some recordings resist easy answers.  These films live in that space.

The Listening series (originally titled Voices) is a collection of short films, each tied to a specific location.

The audio is unaltered. The visuals are minimal.

Each piece runs between six and eight minutes and consists of still images from the site, while the audio plays.  

These recordings are presented as they were captured.
